Annette remembered for teaching passion and love of family
A DEDICATED wife to David, a loving mother to her children and a lifelong friend to many are just a few of the things that made Annette Knowles the woman that she was.
Annette's sudden passing on September 13 at the age of 74 has been a shock to all who knew her.
Her funeral was held on September 25 at St Paul's Anglican Church, where hundreds gathered to pay their respects.
Annette Hazel Knowles, nee Reardon, was born in Roma in January 1945. She attended boarding school in Toowoomba and went on to study teaching.
Her teaching career spanned more than 50 years, all of it spent in Roma schools.
In 1964 Annette met the love of her life, David, at the age of 19 when he was working at Brandts Electrical Store. Their mothers started them on the road to romance by having David take Annette to judo lessons.
They were married on December 31 of the same year and had two children, Jason and Danny. Their family home in Powell St was built in 1967 and it is where the family has lived to this day.
Annette supported David by being heavily involved as a Lion's Lady. Together with David, she spent 42 years as part of the Lions family.
One of Annette's greatest joys was spending time with her growing family as both Jason and Danny married and had their own families.
"She will live on in their hearts as a loving woman with a generosity of spirit, who never waned in her support or love for her family and friends,” Lions member Rick Grinsell said.
