Community grants throw Yuleba and District Bowls Club a lifeline

THE Yuleba and District Bowls Club recently installed an automated external defibrillator which was made possible by the support of Maranoa Regional Council and Senex through the Small Community Grants Program.

The state-of-the-art lifesaving unit not only delivers the required jolt to restart the heart, but also provides the operator with audible instructions for its proper and safe use, and gives feedback on the pace and depth of chest compressions.

The early use of a defibrillator is proven to dramatically improve survival rates of sudden cardiac arrest, compared to CPR alone.

Mayor Tyson Golder said it’s fantastic to see the Community Grants Program in action.

“Community Grants have been established to enhance our region’s communities and they’ve done just this at the Yuleba & District Bowls Club by providing a vital asset,” Cr Golder said.

“I encourage all community groups throughout the region to apply for Council’s Community Grants Program.”

Council’s Community Grants Program 2020/21 is now open.

Community groups have until Friday, 9 October 2020 to submit their applications.
