CRIME SPREE: Seven break-ins in Roma overnight
A suite of items were stolen during a spate of seven thefts overnight and Roma police are appealing for the public’s assistance.
Three break and enters and four attempted burglaries were reported to local police overnight and this morning.
It is understood there are more burglaries still being reported to police.
A woman residing at Powell St allegedly woke up at 12.30am and witnessed someone walking out her front door.
Offender/s allegedly stole her handbag, car keys and cigarettes.
On Hoffman St, an elderly couple in their seventies disturbed intruders who allegedly attempted to force their way into their home at 2am this morning.
Police said nothing was stolen.
On Currey St, a wallet and cigarettes were allegedly stolen from a 22-year-old male at 4am this morning.
Offender/s allegedly broke the front door handle and forced their way inside.
The young male woke up about 4am to notice his front door was damaged and property stolen.
A couple in their twenties reported their car keys missing, then noticed their car was unlocked and their spare car keys stolen.
This was on Wheeler Drive and another resident also reported their car was broken into but nothing was stolen on the same street.
An elderly male allegedly saw two suspects inside his home about 1.45am this morning before they ran off.
Police said the alleged offenders didn’t steal anything from the McDowall home.
The resident didn’t report the matter to police until later in the morning, sparking police to remind locals if they see or hear anything, they should contact Roma police on 4622 9333 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 immediately.
Local police are asking residents if they have CCTV cameras installed at their home and may be able to assist them with their inquiries, to contact them.
Police are still investigating all the matters and ask residents if they see discarded property on the ground, leave it alone and to contact police.
Locals are reminded to lock their doors at all times, if even they are home and to not leave their belongings outside or around the home.
