HAVE you ever wanted to experience Roma's scenery from the air?

Well now could be your chance as Heli-Central's Shane Brumby is offering helicopter joy flights as part of the Easter in the Country program at the weekend.

The Ronson R44 helicopter can take up to three passengers at a time to get a bird's-eye view of the town.

This is the first time the joy flights have been on offer as part of the Easter festival and Mr Brumby said he was hoping for a good turnout.

"I'll be interested to see how it goes,” he said.

"The youngest we take is from four-years-old and up and basically anyone can take part.”

Mr Brumby has years of experience performing various roles as a helicopter pilot.

"I'm originally from a cattle property in the Territory and I started flying over there and got my licence in 1995,” he said.

"I mainly work out of Carnarvon Gorge or here in Roma but we also do mustering, power line work for Ergon and other energy companies, disaster relief and a lot of aerial spraying.”

Mr Brumby has just recently returned from north Queensland where he was helping with disaster relief after cyclone Debbie.

"We've had aircraft at the Whitsundays and back down to Rockhampton,” he said

"We were checking in on isolated people and making sure they are okay and they've got necessities and everything they need.”

Heli-Central will be running joy flights today, tomorrow and and Sunday from 9am to 4pm.
