Kooka's BP evacuated

KOOKAS BP in Roma has been evacuated after a suspected natural gas leak.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 3.30pm, with employees moved from the premises.

Acting inspector of the Roma command of the Queensland Fire and Rescue Service Stewart Dundas said emergency services were working to contain the leak.

"Fire services responded to a potential gas leak at the premises," Inspector Dundas said.

"On arrival, in conjunction with QAS, we have identified six casualties possibly suffering from the effects of gas inhalation. QAS are now treating the casualties on the scene.

"We have isolated the premises and we are conducting some monitoring to isolate the source of the gas.

"The premises will be closed until the services on the scene determine the area is safe for use - and then business will resume."
