Netflix page ‘no one knows’

DO YOU ever find yourself scrolling through the Netflix library, sifting through Adam Sandler movies trying to find something new and half decent to watch?

Well the next time you find yourself doing this you might want to give Netflix a piece of your mind. If you didn't know, the popular streaming service has a page where you can request the TV and movie titles you want it to bring to your library.

If you're surprised to only be hearing about it now, you're not alone. It came to everyone's attention after comedian Chelsea Peretti highlighted the fact on social media this week.

A Netflix user in the Philippines pointed out on Twitter over the weekend that Netflix Philippines doesn't have Ms Peretti's stand-up special, One of the Greats. After complaining on the social media the local Netflix Twitter account provided a link to its requests page, writing "you know the drill".

But the Brooklyn Nine-Nine star wasn't so sure that everyone did indeed know the drill.

The requests page gives users the chance to send Netflix three suggestions of titles you would like to see brought to the platform in your part of the world. It also provides a link explaining why titles are sometimes removed from the library - typically due to licensing agreements expiring and not being renewed.

With more than 125 million users worldwide, Netflix has incredible insight into what audiences are watching and what they'll likely want in the future. And given that licensing agreements often have geographical restrictions, asking our input about titles we want might be more of a token gesture than anything.

But it makes sense for Netflix because the one data point they don't have is the precise titles that you want to watch but can't.

So perhaps if enough of us demand the great Mighty Ducks trilogy be included in the Netflix Australia library, maybe we can force the company's hand.
