Numbers spark an equestrian resurgence in Charleville
EQUESTRIAN: Last month's Warrego Equestrian Mane Event hosted the best dressed horses across the southwest and was such a success that it will become an annual event in the future.
Warrego Equestrian held the three-day competition from August 23-25 with competitors travelling from Tambo, Augathella, Cunnamulla, Roma, Surat, Dalby and Windorah.
There were 25 competitors and the they ranged in age from 25 to 73 years old.
The competition was in place of the Charleville Masters Games competition which was previously held in 2017 and included an English Dressage, Western Dressage, hacking, showjumping, working/utility classes, stockman's challenge, sporting novelties and fancy dress.
Organiser Kerry-Ann Reading said the arena was full of quality horses and hoped the event would become a part of the annual calendar.
"Warrego Equestrian would like to thank the Murweh Shire Council and the Gambling Community Benefit Fund for their generous support of event,” Reading said.
"This support also made it possible to have coaches Ruth White and John Downes provide flatwork lessons for the weekend.”
There were age champions for each age group which were Baby - 18 to 39 years, Teen - 40 to 54 years and Adult - 55+ years.
