Plans for new flight school in the southwest
THE Roma Aero Club has been soaring through local skies for years, now one of the members has a plan to start up a new flight school.
Club secretary Col Vaughan said his flying school has been certified and is almost all set up.
“I think the big challenge to flying now is trying to get people back in the air with coronavirus,” he said.
“Some people really want to fly, some people really want to own a plane and others want to come along.”
The school has been a bit ambition for the aero club for a long time and Mr Vaughan is hoping to get his first students in September.
Having previously worked as a senior flying instructor, he understands the importance of currency and keeping pilot’s skills up to scratch.
“We’re endeavouring to do a couple of flyaways and get our skill level back up.”
