A WET end to the week looks to be on the way with the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) forecasting widespread rain to fall across central and South West Queensland .

BOM meteorologist Lauren Pattie said despite the majority of rainfall falling on coastal areas, western areas of Queensland will see some rain out of the approaching system.

"There are two trough systems moving in from the Eastern and North Eastern regions, however the eastern system will have the greatest impact,” she said.

"Those areas of Queensland should expect rainfall in the region of 5-10mm with chances of seeing gusty thunderstorms.”

Mrs Pattie said the system should arrive later in the week.

"The system will be intersecting parts of the channel country this evening but Roma wont start seeing an increase in cloud until Thursday and then the showers should arrive by Friday.”

Mrs Pattie said residents travelling further west during this time should keep an eye on the BOM flood watch.

"Further West for Queensland more rainfall is predicted, these areas don't need a lot to cause flooding so keeping an eye on the flood watch is a good idea.”
