Three times a charm for young swimming star

SWIMMING: Roma All Star swimmer Eadi Bruton first dived into the pool when she was six months old.

Eleven years later she has achieved a treble in country swimming.

Among the abundance of gold medals and PBs, Eadi has also won the Roma and District Age Champion, South West Age Champion and made the South West Team to compete at Chandler later this month.

Eadi said she was proud to achieve her goals for the year.

"I've really loved this season, especially our team bus trip to the Charleville Carnival,” she said.

"I've loved travelling to the country carnivals where I've won gold medals, done great PBs and had fun with my team.”

Eadi said it was the realisation of how fun it was to go to carnivals and to win a big trophy at the end that has motivated her to swim for the last four years.

"One of the best things about being an All Star is going to carnivals to cheer on my teammates and making new friends,” she said.

Eadi said her favourite event was the individual medley, but her strongest stroke was backstroke and she will continue to work hard, stroke by stroke, to make it into the South West Team again next year.

"During training I keep telling myself that every stroke is making me fitter, faster and stronger and hopefully that will help me reach my more achievable goals,” she said.

"I would love to fulfil my dreams of making it to the Olympics, but I know that is a tough goal to achieve.”
