Top losers win big

FITNESS: Ridgey Didge Fitness has successfully hosted its first official eight- week challenge with the dedicated crew dropping an impressive 82kg of fat.

Trainer Ben Ridge started Ridgey Didge Fitness just short of two years ago and, after being approached by clients, decided to introduce an eight-week challenge.

"A lot of people were just training for the sake of training and I thought it would be a good way to get people in and get them really motivated for the eight weeks,” Ridge said.

"There were also some great individual results, especially with the top three girls they lost a combined total of 18kg of fat, which is great.”

At the end of the eight weeks, Rhiannon Stone and Tyson Waldron were crowned as the winners of the challenge, taking home $500 each as reward.

Rhiannon dropped an impressive 5.6kg of fat loss and 5.3 per cent of body fat, with Tyson losing 4.3kg of fat loss and 3.5 per cent body fat.

"I had been part of Ridgeys for a while and, being a dietitian at Maranoa Medical Centre, I was always pushing my patients, so I thought I would put my practice into play,” Rhiannon said.

"I have a strong belief that you can maintain a healthy lifestyle by having a balanced diet and social life.

"You don't have to over restrict or cut out the things you love, you just need to have a healthy balance between food and exercise.”

With the success of his first eight week challenge, Ridge is planning to hold another one in February, and it's set to be bigger and better.
