Yarding numbers dwindle due to rain
THE Roma Saleyards has experienced it's lowest yarding of cattle today since 2016.
After a good drenching of the region over the weekend, bookings for the Tuesday Roma store sale saw only 2445 head compared to a regular 6000-head mark.
The last recorded low was in October 2016 where only 2470 cattle were up for sale.
Elders Limited agent Keith Crouch said despite the low numbers, prices were still good.
Whilst Roma only had between 10mm to 25mm, rainfall was recorded up to 100mm north of Charleville, around Tambo and through the Miles, Wandoan and Taroom areas.
"Numbers at the saleyards today were definitely instigated by the weather, but the rain was more than welcome,” Mr Crouch said.
"The rain didn't do anyone any harm, but more is still needed.”
At today's sale a total of 1497 steers, 582 heifers and 366 cows were booked in for the store sales.
